Moving trams
07 February 2025
Currently all but two of the trams on display are operational. These operational trams do leave the Museum and run along the Wendouree Parade tracks at different times during the year. The trams are occasionally swapped with other trams from the operational fleet kept in the workshop and depot building next door. We simply push them in or out of the building. Because the trams have wheels on a smooth track, it is an easy task for four people to push a 14 ton tram. The Horse Tram, weighing about two ton is even easier. Once the tram starts to move it rolls along easily. Once out of the building the trolley pole is raised and the tram can continue with electric power.
Geelong No. 2 leaves the building.
