The Pacific Electric Railway operated in Los Angeles, California, USA, It was the largest Interurban and suburban Electric tramway/railway in North America until the last tram ran in 1961. Today’s light rail in Los Angeles follows almost exactly the routes of the former system, showing that the original designers were right!
The famous “Hollywood” suburban cars, were named for their use on Hollywood boulevard. As one-man cars, the Motormen were called Operators and this cap was used on these trams.
The heavy Interurban lines ran on on both street and railway track in trains up to six cars long.
