This motorman’s cap is from New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
New Orleans has the world’s oldest continually operating tramway, starting with mule power in 1831. The system grew and electrified until its peak in the 1920’s. From the 1940’s there was a steady decline until, after the closure of the Canal street line, only the famous St. Charles line was left.
This line continues today with its historic 1924 built trams. The Canal street line was re-instated in 2014 and four other branches have been built with trams of the same style but modern equipment. The cap badge here was used until the 1980’s when the city took over the transport company and new uniforms were issued.
