The Night Tram is back after a two year break! Due to popular demand the tram will feature during the 2025 Ballarat Winter Festival. The Ballarat Botanical Gardens precinct will come alive as the 110 year old tram meanders its way through during the evening hours. Visit the tramway museum and see on display unique trams that once operated in Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne and Launceston. The Night Tram is a pre-booked event. Tickets include entry to the museum and one trip. Adult: $15 Concession $13, Children $7, Family: $40. Limited seats/sessions available, book on line or enquire at the ticket office.

The tram will be operating on Friday and Saturday nights in July, beginning 11 July and finishing 26 July. The museum will open at 6.00pm with trams running every 30 minutes from 6.30pm. Last trip is 8.30pm and Museum will close at 9.00pm.

The Night Tram will also be part of the Winter Festival Hot Chocolate Trail. Every passenger will be served with a delicious hot chokkie while on board.

Tram No. 14

The tram body was built in 1915 by the Meadowbank Manufacturing Co. for the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust. It ran as number 75 and retained this number when classed "J" by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board in 1920. Sold to the Melbourne Electric Supply Co. Ltd. in 1927 and ran as Geelong number 29. Transferred by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SEC) to Ballarat in 1936 where it became number 14. This car was the last car to be overhauled by the SEC. The tramcar is the property of the Ballarat City Council and on loan to the Museum.
