This is a hand made wooden model of an SEC maximum traction tram. This model was made for the Bendigo Tramway in the 1970s, possibly for sale in their shop. The maker is unknown. From the collection of Tim Borchers and repaired for our display by Chris Phillips.

These were large double bogie trams, but with only one powered wheel set in each bogie. This model represents the four door body that was built by Duncan and Fraser in Adelaide for the Hawthorn Tramway Trust c. 1914. Ballarat No. 34 is the BTM’s example of this type of tram car.
